About the Practice
Speech-language pathologists (SLPs) are licensed healthcare professionals who specialize in the evaluation and treatment of communication and swallowing disorders. The scope of practice is broad — from voice and articulation to cognitive-communication, swallowing, and orofacial function.
Yes. All services are delivered via secure telehealth video sessions. This model allows us to serve patients across the country, eliminating travel barriers and making consistent attendance far more feasible. Research supports the efficacy of SLP telehealth across many areas of practice.
Stillwater accepts patients from states where telehealth licensure allows for service delivery. Please contact us to confirm your state is covered. We are continually expanding our licensure footprint.
Getting Started
Simply reach out via our contact form or email. We'll schedule a brief introductory call to discuss your concerns, answer questions, and determine if Stillwater is the right fit. From there, we'll schedule your initial evaluation.
A physician referral is not required to begin therapy. However, some insurance plans may require one for reimbursement. We recommend checking with your insurance provider. We are happy to coordinate with your physician or specialist if you prefer an integrated approach.
The evaluation is a comprehensive virtual session — typically 60 to 90 minutes — during which we gather your full health history, observe relevant structures and function, and begin to understand your goals. You'll receive a written summary of findings and a proposed treatment plan.
A smartphone, tablet, or computer with a working camera and microphone is sufficient. A stable internet connection and a quiet, private space are ideal. We use a HIPAA-compliant telehealth platform that requires no software download.
Treatment & Progress
Duration varies widely depending on the condition, severity, and how consistently home exercises are practiced. Some patients see meaningful improvement within 8–12 sessions; others benefit from longer engagement. We set clear goals and monitor progress at regular intervals.
Most patients begin with weekly sessions. As progress is made and home exercises are established, frequency may be reduced. We work with your schedule and adapt the cadence to what supports your progress best.
Yes — and it matters. Neuroplasticity depends on repetition. Home exercise programs are a core part of therapy at Stillwater. Exercises are individualized, clearly explained, and adjusted as you progress. Consistent practice is the single greatest predictor of outcome.
Absolutely. We frequently collaborate with physicians, dentists, orthodontists, ENTs, and other specialists. Coordinated care produces the best outcomes. We're happy to share reports and communicate directly with your care team with your consent.
Insurance & Fees
We are currently a private-pay practice and do not bill insurance directly. We provide superbills — detailed receipts — that you may submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement. Many patients with PPO plans receive partial reimbursement.
Please contact us for current session rates. We are transparent about fees from the outset and offer package options for those committing to a treatment course. We believe in accessible care and are happy to discuss your situation.
